Eh oui! Vous n'êtes pas dans les vieux pays d'Europe, mais bien en terre d'Amérique; plus précisément à Alma au Québec (Canada) dans la magnifique région du Lac-Saint-Jean, où un couple a réalisé quelque chose de grandiose: rien de moins que de construire leur propre château. Mais André et Monique Murray n'ont pas toujours été châtelains! Cette aventure hors du commun a commencé en 1975 alors qu'ils ont acquis une maison à deux étages des plus ordinaires avant d'acheter un terrain adjacent qui était vacant afin de réaliser leur oeuvre. Monsieur André Murray, passionné d'histoire et d'architecture, est originaire de Saint-Gédéon et membre d'une famille connaissant l'art de la stéréologie. C'est là qu'il a acquis les rudiments de cet art essentiel qui lui a permis d'ériger ces tours et ces mûrs pierre après pierre, aidé de son épouse férue de décoration, de meubles antiques et munie de doigts de fée. Cet immense édifice occupe pratiquement toute la surface des dits terrains et sa hauteur varie de un à trois étages de plancher selon les endroits. La décoration intérieur riche et l'ameublement raffiné contribuent à un dépaysement total: chacune des pièces thématiques nous font s'évader à leur façon. Les centaines d'objets antiques qui s'y trouvent ont des milliers d'histoires à raconter. Nous vous proposons ici une petite visite virtuelle des lieux. Eh yes! You are not in the old countries of Europe, but in America; specifically in Alma, Quebec (Canada) in the beautiful Lac-Saint-Jean region, where a couple has achieved something grandiose: nothing less than building their own castle. But André and Monique Murray have not always been castellans! This extraordinary adventure began in 1975 when they acquired a very ordinary two-storey house before buying adjacent land that was vacant to complete their work. Mr. André Murray, passionate about history and architecture, is from Saint-Gédéon and a member of a family who knows the art of stereology. It was here that he acquired the rudiments of this essential art that allowed him to erect these towers and ripe stone after stone, with the help of his wife, fond of decoration, antique furniture and fairy fingers. This immense building occupies practically all the surface of said grounds and its height varies from one to three floors of floor according to the places. The rich interior decoration and the refined furniture contribute to a complete change of scenery: each of the thematic pieces makes us escape in their own way. The hundreds of ancient artifacts found there have thousands of stories to tell. We propose you here a small virtual visit of the places.
